My View About The Marriot National Hotels

After I watched the CHBA Week 3 Leading the business Priorities on class. I found it is very interesting about how to communicate with people. The hotel professionals will talk to a lot people every day, how to make the effective communications with different people is a big challenge.

They are three way to make communication effectively, one to one, making presentations with project, conducting meetings and using media. There are four quadrants of our brain, so there are four types of people including, the Analytical, the Driver, the Amiable and the Expressive. To make an effective communication, people have to use different ways to talk with these four groups of people.

The analytical people are good at using the facts and information, but the work slow. They need to be right, to have facts, to be organized; task oriented, and works carefully. The Driver is good at control people, manage things but they are not good listeners. They need to get results, to control, to be businesslike, and work independently. The Amiable people are good at groups support, but they are not good at action.

They need relationship security, but they work slowly with a team. They don't like the risk. The Expressive people are good at socializing, but they don't care about details. These people need to be recognition and approval. They like to focus on big pictures. They work fast with other people. They like to take risks.

I think I am the expressive style person. I am good at make blue print, but can't focus on details. I need check the details because I often make a lot small mistakes.

Several Tips for Coaching Leadership

There are many people in different careers interested developing leadership. People are always trying to improve their leadership skills for they want the interpersonal improving and social skills.

Here are several tips for coaching leadership:

Be known the differences between training and coaching. Training and coaching seem similar, but they are different. Training is the classes for people who is looking for jobs or change a new career. Coaching is to help people who are seeking for develop their leadership skills in different careers.

Be knowledgeable.

When a manager or superior ask questions for help, a coach should be able to give effective advices. Coach should know widely knowledge about the leadership and management. Usually, managers and superiors also have a high level of professional career knowledge and management skills. To coaching them, a coach must have more knowledge than them.

Be able communicate with high skills.

Coach will answer questions and explain knowledge to people who needs help. Therefore, a good coach should let people understand him or her easily. It is very important to let managers and superiors understand a coach’s key point.

Be an educator.

A good coach must be an educator, but not a controller. As a professional coach or manager in the coaching role, the coach should educate supervisors and managers as work with them. The goal of coach is to make managers and supervisors become self-sufficient. The coach gives them things they need and can make them be successful in their career related.

Several Tips for Coaching Leadership

Coach should assist the managers and supervisors by providing a process that they can follow and built their own leadership skills. Coach should let them feel more confidence, more knowledgeable.

All these tips may help coaches and other people who are related coaching career. However, a coach is a work partner, adviser, friends and the people that managers and superiors trusted. The responsible of a coach is to help the people who are seeking for help, development of leadership skills and improve management knowledge.

Good Leader's Characteristics

The good leaders have some special leadership characteristics. These characteristics can help them to be good leaders. Many people are trying to find out of these characteristics, and find the best way to be a good leader. However, everyone has some special things. The only thing we can do is try to find out some common characteristics.

Good Leader's Characteristics


1.Friendly

A leader should be friendly with all members of the team. Subordinates can feel warm and comfortable if a leader is a very friendly person. In people's minds, traditional leaders are hard and cold people. They are tyranny and arbitrary, and do not reveal their feelings to subordinates. And, subordinates do not really like them. Therefore, there are no much communicating between them and subordinates, and lack of communicating will cause a lot of unnecessary losses. A good leader should be friendly with subordinates and let them like to communicate with him or her.

2.Patient

A leader should be patient to his subordinates. A leader needs to communicate with followers and subordinates patiently. The leader should listen to their subordinates patiently, and support subordinates patiently. A leader does not only need patient to subordinates, but also to customers and bosses. Patience is like a sedative, it can make people able to calm.

3.Caring

The leaders should care employees, so that subordinates feel warm and caring. As the old saying, "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care." When a leader cares his or her employees, the employees will give more to them.

4.Faithful

Faithful is the one of the most important characteristics of leadership. Faithful leaders must be truthful and trustworthy, and subordinates can believe and trust them. If without employees' trust, a person cannot be a faithful leader. The most faithful leaders have a vision of their goals, and they know how to organize the teams. In a word, the faithful leader is the head of the team.

5.Humor

As the old saying "a good laugh is the best lubricant for oiling the machinery of human relations." It tells us how important that humor is. Humor can make people involved feel more relaxed. People who use humor can grab the people's attention. Also can display their wit and intelligence. Employees can feel less shy, and become more appealing and attractive as a partner in a group conversation. Therefore, humor is a good tool for leaders. Leadership Principles
